Work of the Grim Reaper
A recent dispatch from the East announces the death of Mrs. ANNA FARRELL McDONNELL. This intelligence will cast a feeling of gloom over the hearts of many a boy and girl and many a young man and woman of Sausalito, where she taught school for 11 years. It seems Mrs. McDonnell met with an accident during one of the earlier days of this week – the particulars are not at hand – from which she died very suddenly.
A good woman has passed away. There are few homes in Sausalito which have not treasured up many pleasant memories of her devotion and love, and faithfulness and strength. She bore her own troubles uncomplainingly and helped all others with whom she was associated to bear their share of the burdens of life. Cheerful, hopeful, and happy dispositioned, her work was to her as the fulfilling of a purpose, and she pressed with unwavering zeal towards that end, ever meeting with such success as rewards high-spirited, noble devotion and enthusiasm.
Her married life was exceptionally happy – for it is not forgotten here the occasion of her marriage in June of last year at Mr. R.E. McDonnell of Kansas City. She had intended visiting her old home in June of this year, but on account of the building of a new house in the city of her sojourn, the visit was deferred. She will be buried from the Catholic Church in San Rafael tomorrow morning.
