JOHN F. WHITE
John F. White of Petaluma, a former Tiburon resident, died Saturday at a convalescent hospital in Petaluma. He was 78.
Mr. White was born in Oakland and reared in Glen Ellen. He had a railroad career of 50 years.
He lived in Tiburon when he worked as an engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He later transferred to the Northern Pacific Railroad, starting as a mechanic and rising to the rank of roundhouse foreman. He retired in Eureka.
Mr. White also lived in Willits eight years before moving to Petaluma two years ago.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Royal Oaks Club and American Association of Retired Persons.
His wife, Grace E. White, died recently.
He is survived by a sister, Bernice Veale of Castro Valley.
A funeral is set for 2 p.m. today at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Private inurnment was to be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
The family prefers that contributions be made to a favorite charity.
