MILL VALLY, Calif. – After a rich and full life, Sabina “Sally” Hendron passed away Feb. 21, 2005 at age 90, in Mill Valley. Before moving to California in 1983, she was a longtime resident of Rockford, Ill. In Rockford, Sally owned and operated Highland Cleaners, and later was activities director at Collier Gardens Residence. She was also a professional seamstress, who was admired greatly for her creativity in designing and make (sic) beautiful clothing. Sally sang in the Rockford Mendelssohn Club choir, and for many years she was an avid golfer and swimmer at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club. She also cut a mean rug on the dance floor, and weekend nights usually found her in the ballrooms with her friends. In California, Sally was a member of the College of Marin Community Singers and volunteered many years at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Rafael. She enjoyed world travel from Tahiti to Turkey, Asia to Europe, and swam in the Agean (sic) Sea and Yangtze River in China well into her 70s. Sally will be greatly missed by her loving family: daughters, Carole Hendron Raisbeck (Clifford C. Raisbeck, M.D.) of Sausalito, Calif., and Kathleen Hendron of Fresno, Calif.; only grandchild, Alexandra of Atlanta, Ga.; beloved nieces, Elaine Vandercoy Winkelman (Richard) of Belvidere, Ill., Rosemary Mikol and Joan Mikol Boles (Edward), Gail Boem (Harry) of Chicago, Ill.; and nephew, James Mikolajczak, M.D. (Kathy) of St. Louis, Mo. She was predeceased by nephew, James Vandercoy.
Sally will be laid to rest in Belvidere Cemetery beside beloved sister, Harriett Vandercoy, and brother-in-law, Leonard G. Vandercoy.
