Death of a Pioneer
Dr. William R. WELLS, who was a practitioner in Petaluma for about 50 years, died at his home in that place Thursday evening. He was born in Connecticut in September 1813, and came to California in 1850 by way of Cape Horn, and soon afterwards located near San Rafael, just beyond where the golf links now are.
His wife and 3 daughters survive him. The daughters are Mrs. White of Ignacio, and Miss Amy and Nellie Wells of Petaluma. Two sons and three daughters preceded him to the grave.
Dr. Wells was well known to many of the old residents of Marin County.
