MENNICK, Gary Allan, passed away September 15, 2001. Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel, Santa Rosa, 707-539-2921.
Gary Allan Mennick
Suddenly, but peacefully taken from this life on September 15, 2001 while vacationing on Lake Garda in Italy. Caring spouse and love of Lynne Lalanne-Mennick, loving father of Kristian Adam Mennick, Jenae, Jenifer and Laurent Lalanne, and cherished friend of Richard Flout. Beloved son-in-law of Alba Ravazzini, brother-in-law of Dale Ravazzini and Mike Patterson, Terry and Nancy Ravazzini.
Gary was a firefighter in his 24th year on active duty with Engine 54 of the San Rafael Fire Department. He was a devoted member of the American Firefighters Association of America, an avid environmentalist and a supporter of the Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club. A true believer in a new way of positive thinking for all human kind was displayed by his countless years as a supporter of New Dimensions, KPFA, the Science of Mind, and always demonstrated by his way of life. He loved all sports on the high school level as a participant and spectator, as well as the SF Giants and Cal Bears. We've all lost a truly remarkable friend and a positively vibrant, spiritual human being. He touched many lives with his compassion, warmth and selflessness. He taught us so much. Filled with love, he will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on.
Friends are invited to attend a special celebration of his life on Monday, September 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1551 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa. Interment to follow at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa. Visitation will be held at LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL, 4321 Sonoma Hwy., Santa Rosa on Sunday, September 23, 2001 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy, or charity of your choice.
