Hiker Falls to Death While Climbing Mt. Shasta
Sidney Schlesinger, 49, a San Francisco attorney, was killed Tuesday when he fell off a precipice and dropped 500 feet while climbing Mt. Shasta. The accident occurred when a party of 19 of the Berkeley Hiking club had reached the 1900 foot elevation.
Note: The elevation given couldn't be correct, as Mt. Shasta is over 14,000 feet tall, and Horse Camp (where most people start the hike) is about 8,000 feet.
