PRESTON, Ralph L., of Marin, passed away October 1, 2001. Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery-Mortuary, San Rafael, 415-459-2500.
Ralph L. Preston
Passed away October 1, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Myra Preston; daughters, Wendy, Lori and Lisa; and granddaughter, Madeline. Born in Kent, Iowa in 1925, he was raised in Stockton, California and moved to Marin in 1960. After becoming a trained navy fighter pilot during WWII, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in accounting from U.C. Berkeley and later earned a law degree from U.S.F. He then pursued a 42 year career as a CPA, including managing partner at John F. Forbes. Ralph enjoyed exploring the world through the words of literature, exchanging of ideas with other members of the Bohemian Club, and extensive cruise ship travel from the Mediterranean to Alaska. His love for philanthropic work included board leadership for the Herbst Foundation, Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation, Children's Hospital of S.F. Foundation and U.S.F. Law School. He will be remembered for his overwhelming generosity to his family, friends and those in need. Private Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Christian Children's Fund at 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294. 1-800-776-6767.
