SLOAN, Paul K., 26, formerly of Novato, passed away September 11, 2001.
Paul K. Sloan
Age 26, formerly of Novato, California died September 11, 2001 in the collapse of the World Trade Center in New York. He was employed as an equities analyst with Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and was working on the 89th floor of 2 WTC when the terrorist attacks occurred. Paul was born on July 30, 1975 in Denver, Colorado and lived his early years in both Denver and Houston, Texas. Paul and his family moved to Novato in 1981. He lived in the Bay Area until he moved to New York in 2000. Paul attended elementary and high school in Novato. At San Marin High School, Paul was Senior Class Vice-President and a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Paul also achieved many athletic awards as a football star at San Marin, including All-League and All-Bay Area honors as one of the top linemen in Northern California. He was also a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award winner. Paul attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated with a degree in History in 1997. He continued his athletic prowess at Brown as he started for two years as an offensive guard for the Ivy League team. Paul worked for Morgan-Walke Associates and Sutro & Co. investment firms in San Francisco before joining Keefe, Bruyette & Woods last year. Paul is survived by his parents, Ron and Muffy Sloan of Novato; two brothers, Matt Sloan of Los Angeles and Peter Sloan of Novato; and sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and William Funk of Scarsdale New York. He is also survived by his grandfathers, Kenneth Sloan of Platte City, Missouri and John P. Berres of Clearwater, Florida. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 17, 2001 at St. Vincent's Chapel in Marinwood, California. A fund has been established in Paul's memory at Brown University.
