Death of CHARLES F. McALLLISTER
A Son of San Rafael Passes Away After a Three Weeks Illness

The friends of Charles F. McAllister were deeply grieved to hear of his death last Saturday at McNutt's Hospital in San Francisco. He was taken ill with pneumonia about 3 weeks before his death and was taken to the hospital where he could have the best of medical treatment. He was the only son of A.C. and Kate McAllister and was a native of San Rafael. His birthplace was just across the street from the Journal office. He was 34 years, 2 months, and 24 days old.

The funeral took place from the Episcopal Church Monday afternoon at one o'clock, the services being conducted under the auspices of Tamalpais Parlor No. 64, N.S.G.W. The procession started from the undertaking parlors of Edward Eden, lead by the members of the Native Sons Parlor, and proceeded to the church. As the body was being borne down the aisle, the dead march was played by the organist Mr. R.J. Fenn,Vice-Principal of the Hitchcock School. The burial took place at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.

About a year ago, Charles left San Rafael to accept a position as private secretary for the firm of Parke & Lacy of San Francisco. He did not sever his connections with San Rafael, however, but paid frequent visits to his old home.

During his residence here he became prominent in the affairs of the young men of the place. He was at one time president of the San Rafael Athletic Club, he was a member of the Native Sons here and in the season of 1897 he managed the most successful baseball nine that San Rafael has ever had. This team won 23 out of 26 games.

Several beautiful floral pieces were laid on the casket at the undertaking parlors. One was from the Mint employees, one from friends in the City, one from the firm for which he worked, one from the San Rafael Natives and another from the present baseball nine. Thus did his friends pay their tribute to the lost comrade.
