Death of Mrs. Nelson, A Pioneer Olema Lady
After a Year's Illness She Passed Away Monday Morning

Another noble pioneer is gone. MALICIA NELSON died at her home in Olema Monday morning, August 6th, 1900, at the age of 61 years. She had been sick for a year or more and the physicians announced that her death was only a question of time. She was the widow of the late John Nelson who lost his life about two years ago by being thrown from a wagon on the Olema-Bolinas road. Mr. Nelson was regarded by everybody as one of the most honorable men who ever lived in this county, and an equally worthy mention can be made of Mrs. Nelson. She was a noble woman, faithful and true, and goes to her reward with the highest esteem of the entire people. Mr. Nelson located in Olema in January 1857. A few years later Mrs. Nelson came to this county from Michigan and on Christmas Day 1865 was married to Mr. Nelson, and lived and reared her family at Olema. Her maiden name was Malicia Shippy and she was a native of Jefferson County, New York.

The funeral will be conducted at Olema today.
