A young boy by the name of EGGERT WETGEN was drowned last Wednesday in Corte Madera Creek. It appears that he dove under a partially submerged platform, from which he was unable to release himself. He was one of a camping party in the neighborhood and an only child of parents who are almost distracted over the loss. His father is a salesman with H. Levi & Co., the San Francisco wholesalers.

Boy Drowned at Tamalpais
Caught Under a Platform After a Dive From a Spring Board
EGGERT WETGEN, son of C.H. Wetgen, a prominent drummer of San Francisco in the employ of Levi & Co., was drowned at Tamalpais Wednesday afternoon. He was in bathing in the slough in company with several other boys and dove from the springboard on the bank and it seems was caught under the platform that lies just under the surface of the water when the tide is about half out. Father Newell happened to come along about half an hour later and, being told by the boys that Eggert had disappeared under the water, he immediately stripped, went in after him and soon pulled out his lifeless body. Eggert was an only son, a bright boy and the pride of his parents' hearts. He was camping at Tamalpais during his vacation and his parents knew nothing of the sad occurrence until notified by telephone late in the day.
