QUINLAN, Florence Behan, 96, of Marin County, passed away November 25, 2001. Neptune Society of No. California, San Francisco, 415-771-0717.

Florence Behan Quinlan
Born in San Francisco, and a resident of Marin County for 55 years, died peacefully at The Tamalpais in Greenbrae on November 25, 2001 at age 96. Loving wife of the late Bob Quinlan; beloved mother of Patricia of San Francisco and Robert of Palm Springs; cherished grandmother of Kimberly Bakker of New York City; beloved aunt of Claire Croonquist and Richard Quinlan; beloved cousin of Deborah O'Brien; dear friend of Frankie Longfellow and her long faithful bridesmaid, Helen von der Leith. A tireless volunteer, she served the Marie Rose Guild, Sunny Hills Org., Catholic Social Services, and Marin General Hospital. A late blooming, but accomplished artist, she became a member of the Marin Artist's Society. A local Zen Center displays her painting of Indian Rock, and the soft beauty of her work was very much a reflection of her inner self. Florence was a fashionable, congenial though irritatingly consistent (long and straight down the middle) golfer at the Fairfax Meadow Club, where there is an annual memorial tournament in honor of her late husband. She and Bob loved ballroom dancing, actually won a few trophies, and were featured performers at the Kent Estate Viennese Waltz Galas. She was also an excellent bridge player and was always interested in self-improvement, studying French into her 80s. Florence will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, zest for life, deep compassion, and her unlimited ability to bring out the best in others. A soul has passed but not been lost. The gentle joie de vivre that was her life-long essence lives on in all who knew and were touched by her unfailing love. On a daily basis, she never just awoke, she gently unfolded, as so shall she embark on her new journey with the private services of the Neptune Society at her request. Memorial Donations may be made to The Tamalpais Tomorrow Fund, 501 Via Casitas, Greenbrae, CA 94904 or the Alzheimer's Association, North Bay Chapter, Suite 23, 4340 Redwood Hwy., San Rafael, CA 94903. Arrangements by the Neptune Society of No. California, San Francisco.
