NASH, Evlyn Francis, of San Anselmo, passed away December 7, 2001. Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo, 415-453-8440.


Evlyn Francis Nash, Lifelong Teacher
Entered peacefully into rest at her home in San Anselmo on December 7, 2001. Evlyn was born in San Francisco on March 12, 1907. In 1917, her family moved to Marin County where she attended Ross Grammar School and Tamalpais High School. In 1929, she earned a degree in education from State Teachers College of San Francisco. Her first teaching job (1929-30) was at Clark School, an all grades, one-room schoolhouse near Tomales. In 1931 she transferred to the Red Hill School (later renamed Isabel Cook School) in San Anselmo, where she taught the first grade until her retirement in 1973. In 1936, she was married to Frank Nash, a contractor, who died four months later. She was a lifelong member of The Grand Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a nephew, David Luce of Portola Valley and by two grand nieces. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at Monte's Chapel of the Hills, 330 Red Hill Avenue, San Anselmo, CA 453-8440.
