THOMAS I. KING
Pacific Telephone executive
Thomas I. King of San Anselmo died Monday, Nov. 26, 1990, at Marin General Hospital following a brief illness. He was 85.
Mr. King was a native of San Francisco. He was a survivor of the 1906 earthquake.
He attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco and graduated from the University of Santa Clara.
He retired as an executive of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. after 45 years of working there.
He served as chairman of the San Francisco Council of the United Way and was one of the first recipients of the St. Ignatius Christ the King award, in recognition of his achievements as an outstanding graduate.
He was past president of the Executive Association of San Francisco and Branch No. 22 of Sons in Retirement.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol K. Lang of Las Vegas and Janet K. Scales of Ross; a son, Thomas I. King II of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; two brothers, George King of Sebastopol and Louis King of Los Altos; a sister, Lillian Miller of San Rafael; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
His wife of 31 years, Edith M. King, died earlier, as did his second wife, Dorothy D. King, to whom he was married for 20 years.
The private funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, San Francisco. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
The family prefers memorial gifts to St. Ignatius Building Fund, in care of The Rector, 2001 37th Avenue, San Francisco, CA, 94116.
