One More Old Resident Gone

One by one they are passing from us leaving only the living memories of the dead past, each one taking from us the stories of early hardships and privation it was necessary to undergo in order to bring our glorious State through the first periods of struggles and later triumphs to its present status among States of the Union. Monday morning, January 29, Mrs. SARAH MILLER, mother of Mrs. J.O.B. Short, and the late Mrs. Margaret O'Toole, of Gilroy, passed away at the home of Mrs. Short in this city at the age of 83 years and 10 months. She was a good Christian old lady, a native of County Wexford, Ireland, known and loved by many of San Rafael's oldest residents for her kind deeds and friendly services. The funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the residence of Mrs. Short and from St. Raphael's Church where a solemn requiem mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul. The remains were buried at Mr. Olivet Cemetery.
