IDA KAUFMAN PLACE
Ida Kaufman Place, a longtime Petaluma resident, died Tuesday at home after a short illness. She was 83.
A native of Switzerland, she came to the United States in 1925, settling in Petaluma. She had served in the Army during World War II, but had been a homemaker most of her life.
Mrs. Place was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma, Hermann Sisters Lodge and the Fleet Reserves Associates. She was the widow of William Henry Place.
She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Fautley of Petaluma; three sisters, Lena Graa of Switzerland, Bertha Furzer of Africa and Elizabeth Kopf of Switzerland; and five grandchildren.
A private funeral was held today in Petaluma. Inurnment was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 939 B St., Petaluma. Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the church or to a favorite charity.
