Thelma Hansen DeWitt
June 1909 ~ June 2004
Born in Indiana to Merle and Rufus "Doc" Wise, growing up in Hartford City, studying violin at the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music & Business at Butler. Moved to San Francisco in 1933. Professionally played violin and worked in business. Married Peter Hansen 1935. Actively involved in Eastern Star, Danish community, ownership of a launderette and building own home in Forest Knolls. Later she and Teeny Browning, aka The Strollettes entertained throughout Marin. Married Dick DeWitt in May 1973 and moved to San Anselmo. Later active in Presbyterian Church.
Survived by: niece Elaine Brown, Concord, grandnieces Cheryl Walsh and Shanna Huber, great grandnieces and nephews; Bill Walsh, Michelle Walsh, Breanna Stanley, Brittany Huber and Brandon Huber.
Remembered always for her love of music, creativity with ceramics and fabric, and great humor.
Let her music play in our hearts forever!
Viewing 9 a.m., Service 10 a.m. June 17th, 2004, Chapel of the Hills, 330 Redhill Avenue, San Anselmo. Gathering afterwards at her home. Memorial Gifts First Presbyterian Church Deacon Fund; Guide Dogs of San Rafael.
