HELEN TARWATER
Mrs. Helen A. Tarwater, 48, of Fairfax, collapsed of a heart attack as she was entering the Methodist Church of San Rafael for services yesterday morning, and was pronounced dead on arrival at San Rafael General Hospital.
Mrs. Tarwater was just walking into the church as she collapsed. She was taken to the office of the pastor, Rev. Donald H. Baldwin. There, Ruth Ann Cooer of 530 Miller Creek Road, Marinwood, and Betty Lou Wood of 1215 Lincoln Avenue, San Rafael, attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until arrival of an ambulance.
Mrs. Tarwater and her husband, Orville Glenn Tarwater, a Greyhound bus driver, resided at 196 Cascade Drive, Fairfax.
She moved to Marin about 15 years ago from Burley, Ida., where she had spent her girlhood. She was born in Missouri.
She was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church.
Surviving, besides her husband, are her mother, Mrs. Minnie Fryemiller of Burley, Ida.; a brother and a sister, Earl Fryemiller and Mrs. Louise Glenn of Burley; a stepson and stepdaughter, Gary Dale Tarwater of San Francisco and Mrs. Richard Salander of Oswego, N.Y., and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Methodist Church at 9 Ross Valley Drive, San Rafael. After private family funeral services, the body will be sent to Burley for burial.
The family prefers that tributes be contributions to the memorial fund of the Methodist Church of San Rafael.
