Long Time Gardener Dies at 77
Charles A. Lezzena, 77, a landscape gardener in Marin county for the past 60 years and a familiar figure to many as he rode his bicycle about the county highways, died last night in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral arrangements are being made at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
Born in France July 22, 1882, Lezzena was brought to Marin County when only six months old and lived here throughout his life. The family ranch was at Deer Park, Fairfax. Lezzena had occupied his home at 126 Sycamore avenue, San Anselmo, since 1900.
During his long and busy career as a landscape gardener, Lezzena laid out many of the gardens in Marin tracts including the Highlands, and in Ross.
He was a member of Mira Monte Camp 359, Woodmen of the World, and had belonged to the order for 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son, Mrs. Helen O. Wagner of San Anselmo and Charles B. Lezzena of San Francisco, a sister, Mrs. Tessie Treanor of San Francisco, and four brothers, Andrew, John, Joseph and Louis Lezzena, and two grandchildren.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the husband of the late Bertha Maye Boyea Lezzena, and the grandfather of Helen O. Wagner and Harry E. Glavin.
